Our History

On Wednesday, June 21, 2006, a meeting was held at 1213 Douglas Circle which marked the beginning of Restoration Church of Americus. The vision was given to Pastor Edge several years earlier and as the vision was developed in Pastor Edge, God worked to move His plan into existence. The vision for Restoration Church of Americus, was directed by the Lord, with the scripture base of Isaiah 58:12, “and they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places; thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations, and they shall be called, the repairer of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in.” The first worship service was held on Sunday June 25, 2006. The altar call was given for Restoration Church and 80 members united.  Pastor Edge stated that we are a called-out assembly of God’s people, that are called to go forth and bring restoration in the lives of His people at whatever the cost. The Lord moved Pastor Edge out of bondage, out of a place where the membership was not of one mind and spirit, into the path that we as members have been experiencing this first year, where barriers are transcended and denominational barriers are torn down.

On August 27, 2006, we held our Inaugural Services at Georgia Southwestern State University in the Fine Arts Building. Pastors from around the area came to help join in the festivities and the vision that God gave Pastor Edge. 

We have truly been blessed with speakers, pastors, evangelists, ministers and clergy from all denominations from the community and around the area for guidance, support and encouragement. We appreciate all the encouraging words, scriptures and prophecies given to our church and our leadership.

We held our First Annual Appreciation Service for our beloved pastor, Pastor George Edge and Lady Lindsey Edge, “Restoring Everything Satan Took”. As many of the community ministers joined to honor one of their own, the services climaxed on Sunday, September 24, 2006 after a week of celebration. Along with the ministers in the area honoring our pastor, several churches also joined our membership to extol the virtues of the First Family of “Restoration Church”.
 

On November 11, 2006 our Evangelism Team started off our first block party in the community where God allowed the ministry of Restoration Church to come into existence. There were games, music and fun for all ages as we presented a carnival with a Christian theme. Clothing was made available for any and all as an outreach of the love and concern for the community. We had clothes, shoes jackets, sweaters and suits in all sizes, donated by our church and guests, which were distributed to anyone in need. The Men's Ministry grilled hotdogs and hamburgers for all to enjoy.

March 1, 2007, when a tornado destroyed so much of our area, our church stepped in to assist in the feeding the workers and the community.

June 7, 2007 we held our first baptism at Union Tabernacle Church in Americus with seven baptism candidates.

June 11 – 13, 2007, we held our first Vacation Bible School; theme “Under Construction” with the culmination program on Sunday, June 18^th.
